Wrexham promoted to League One

League One

The Welsh side returned to the EFL after 15 years away last term when they lifted the National League title, meaning that they faced the challenge of adapting to life at a higher level.

Doing so has been a relative breeze, with the Red Dragons earning automatic promotion – along with Stockport County – with two games to spare.

Wrexham’s journey really is a fairytale after Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed a takeover of the club in November 2020, with the club on a meteoric rise ever since.

The club knew that a victory over Forest Green Rovers – along with MK Dons dropping points and Barrow losing – would see them go up, something that looked a strong possibility at half-time with the Welsh side 4-0 up.

Co-owner McElhenney was every fan at half-time as he tried to work out whether Wrexham were up or not, sharing a hilarious image from his hit show ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’.
