Ugochukwu Saves Chelsea from Defeat Against Inter as Neto Debuts

Ugochukwu

Chelsea ended their tough pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan. Lesley Ugochukwu late goal avoided a loss, giving the Blues some relief. The match also marked the debut of Pedro Neto, who greeted the Stamford Bridge crowd for the first time.

Enzo Maresca led Chelsea through a challenging pre-season, finishing with three losses in six friendlies. Although Chelsea dominated much of the game, they struggled to create clear scoring chances. However, Ugochukwu’s last-minute strike brought hope.

Marcus Thuram gave Inter the lead in the 25th minute. He broke through Chelsea’s defense and scored past Robert Sanchez. Chelsea responded by pressing forward, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Christopher Nkunku both close to scoring. Nkunku’s bicycle kick forced a great save from Yann Sommer.

Pedro Neto, Chelsea’s newest signing from Wolves, made his first appearance at halftime. The versatile winger, known for his ability to cut in from the right, could bring creativity to Chelsea’s attack.

Noni Madueke, a standout during Chelsea’s pre-season, was replaced by Euro 2024 hero Cole Palmer in the second half. This substitution hinted at potential tactical changes for the upcoming season.

As the game neared its end, Ugochukwu seized his moment. He volleyed in a corner to secure the draw. With Premier League champions Manchester City next on their schedule, Chelsea needs inspiration, possibly from their new signing, Neto.
