Phil Foden won the Men’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, marking a remarkable season with Manchester City. This prestigious honor adds another accolade to Foden’s growing list of achievements.

Foden, who consistently delivered standout performances for City, earned this recognition after fellow professionals voted him as the best player of the season. He faced stiff competition from teammates Erling Haaland and Rodri, as well as other nominees like Cole Palmer, Martin Odegaard, and Ollie Watkins. The Manchester Opera House hosted the award ceremony on Tuesday night, where Foden received his prize. During the same event, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer also won the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

Phil Foden played a pivotal role in Manchester City’s record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title last season. He contributed 19 goals and eight assists in the league alone. Across all competitions, he scored 27 times. His exceptional form helped City secure victories in the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Additionally, he played a key part in the team’s journey to the quarter-finals of the Champions League and the FA Cup final.

Foden has now won 18 trophies with Manchester City, his boyhood club. This PFA Players’ Player of the Year award completes his collection of major individual honors. He previously won the PFA Young Player of the Year twice, in 2020-21 and 2021-22. Foden has also received the Football Writers’ Association award and the Premier League Player of the Season award.

As for what’s next, Phil Foden enjoyed an extended break after helping England reach the Euro 2024 final. However, he returned to action on Sunday, contributing to City’s 2-0 victory over Chelsea in their title defense opener. This Saturday, Foden will have the chance to showcase his PFA award at the Etihad Stadium when Manchester City plays their first home game of the season against Ipswich.
