Leo Messi could become co-owner of Inter Miami

Lionel Messi has had a huge impact on the pitch in the MLS since joining Inter Miami and the 36-year-old could be set to become the club’s co-owner with David Beckham. Elsewhere in Saturday’s Paper Round, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva is intrigued by Barcelona and has been quizzing Joao Felix about life there, and teenager Bendito Mantato is set for a new deal at Manchester United.

Lionel Messi could become a co-owner of Inter Miami with David Beckham, according to The Sun.
Messi has been a hit since joining MLS, scoring 16 goals in 19 appearances and helping Inter Miami to their first ever trophy – the 2023 Leagues Cup.

But a report in The Sun claims the 36-year-old could be about to help shape the club off the field too.

The outlet writes: “Lionel Messi could become a co-owner of Inter Miami alongside David Beckham – using a very familiar clause.

“Messi took his career to America last year after walking out on French champions PSG and snubbing a move to Saudi Arabia.
“The man who convinced the Argentine icon to head Stateside was majority owner of Inter Miami, Jorge Mas, who also appointed Beckham club president.
“And part of Messi’s package was the option to take part ownership of the club without needing a buy-in exercised.
“Beckham had a similar clause when moved from Madrid to LA Galaxy in a high-profile transfer in 2007.
“Messi’s option instead gives him direct ownership in just Miami.”
