Kylian Mbappe is demanding that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) pay him a debt of €55 million. According to ‘Le Monde’, Mbappe has taken the issue to the legal committee of Ligue 1 and UEFA. He claims this sum includes his last three months’ salary and a portion of his loyalty bonus.

Kylian Mbappe initially sought to leave PSG on good terms, but tensions with the club’s board have since escalated. On Tuesday, ‘Le Monde’ reported that Mbappe is pursuing the unpaid €55 million through legal channels. This move could worsen the already strained relationship between him and the club.

The dispute over these payments began with a verbal agreement made during Mbappe’s contract renewal in 2022. At the time, both sides agreed to waive some of the bonuses owed to Mbappe. However, when it became clear that Mbappe intended to move to Real Madrid, relations deteriorated, and PSG allegedly stopped making the agreed payments.

According to ‘L’Equipe’, the initial debt could have been as high as €100 million. Still, Kylian Mbappe’s current claim stands at nearly €55 million. PSG reportedly wanted Real Madrid to contribute to the payment by allocating a percentage of Mbappe’s signing bonus to the club, but Real Madrid refused to consider this option.

As a result, PSG stopped paying what they owed, relying on the verbal agreement made during the contract renewal. Now that the dispute has reached UEFA and Ligue 1, PSG could face severe penalties if found guilty of failing to pay Mbappe. The French Professional Football League (LFP) could ban PSG from registering new signings, and UEFA might exclude the club from European competitions if they are found in breach of payment obligations.
