Erik ten Hag sympathizes with Klopp’s decision to step down

The Manchester United coach acknowledged the managerial strain as he reflected on Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool after nine years.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed understanding for Jurgen Klopp’s decision to step down from his managerial role at Liverpool after a nine-year tenure at Anfield.

Ten Hag commended Klopp for his significant achievements, transforming Liverpool into Champions League and Premier League winners since assuming the managerial position in 2015.

Jurgen KloppHowever, he acknowledged the demanding nature of the job and recognized that the cumulative challenges may have taken a toll on the German coach.

“I can understand that,” said Ten Hag. “Nine years is a long time. I think it’s a period by building up and achieving targets, but also I think setbacks and going into difficult periods. The Premier League is very intense.”

“The combination with European club soccer, when you’re there nine years it’s a long period and I can understand he is running out of energy, and that is one of his arguments to step down.”
