Dana White announces Conor McGregor will make comeback against Michael Chandler

Dana White celebrated a historic show at UFC 300 by announcing his biggest star will return against Michael Chandler at UFC 303.

The UFC duo will fight at welterweight in Las Vegas on June 29.

White also confirmed two more highly anticipated bouts during his post-fight press conference at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

He said: “June 1, New Jersey PPV, main event Islam Makhachev vs Dustin Poirier. Co-main event, five rounds, Sean Strickland vs Paulo Costa. June 29, Conor vs Chandler.”

‘Notorious’ hasn’t fought in MMA since suffering a broken leg during his trilogy fight with Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.

The 35-year-old has been fully fit and ready to return since his fight with Chandler was officially announced before they filmed a series of The Ultimate Fighter together in February 2023.

McGregor left the UFC’s drug testing program during his injury layoff, and it was originally thought that a six-month mandatory testing period was delaying his comeback.

However, it soon became clear that something else was stopping him from returning to the Octagon when he still didn’t get a fight date despite signing up for the UFC’s new drug testing program.

White repeatedly stated that McGregor may never return to MMA and suggested that his £200 million net worth means he doesn’t have the desire to fight like he used to.
