La Liga: Mbappe’s Impact on Bellingham, Lewandowski’s Decline, Simeone’s Revamp, and More

La Liga

Mbappe’s Influence on Bellingham

In La Liga, England international Jude Bellingham made an impressive debut at Real Madrid. He contributed significantly to their title and Champions League triumphs. Bellingham played in an advanced role and netted 19 goals in the top flight. However, the arrival of French superstar Kylian Mbappe might shift Bellingham’s responsibilities on the field. With Vinicius Junior and Mbappe forming a potent attacking duo, Bellingham could be tasked with more defensive duties. This would be similar to his role at Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti will need to find the best system quickly. His goal will be to integrate these attacking stars and maximize their effectiveness in La Liga.

Lewandowski’s Decline

Robert Lewandowski, the former Bayern Munich striker, had an outstanding first season at Barcelona. He scored 33 goals across all competitions and helped them win La Liga. Last season, however, Lewandowski managed 26 goals, and Barcelona finished without silverware. Despite still delivering a decent goal tally, his performance level noticeably declined. With Lewandowski turning 36 in August, many Barcelona fans are concerned. They wonder whether the veteran striker can provide the spark needed for Barcelona to compete with Real Madrid for the La Liga title and against Europe’s elite in the Champions League.

Simeone’s Revamp at Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid finished fourth in a disappointing La Liga season last year. In response, the club has invested heavily in new signings for a rebuild. Diego Simeone brought in Argentine compatriot Julian Alvarez from Manchester City for a substantial fee, which could reportedly reach €85 million. He also signed striker Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal. To strengthen the defense, Atletico added Euro 2024 winner Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad. With players like Alvaro Morata, Saul Niguez, Memphis Depay, and Stefan Savic departing, Atletico Madrid will have a new look this season. They aim for a better La Liga finish.

Girona’s Ambitions in La Liga

Girona, last season’s surprise package, pushed Real Madrid close at the top of the La Liga table for much of the season. They eventually finished third. Despite losing key players like winger Savinho and striker Artem Dovbyk, Girona remains hopeful of building on their remarkable achievements. This season marks their fifth in La Liga, and they face the added challenge of participating in the Champions League. Girona has strengthened their squad with the loan signing of Bryan Gil from Tottenham, the return of Oriol Romeu after a stint at Barcelona, and the acquisition of Donny van de Beek from Manchester United. Managing these resources effectively will be crucial for Girona’s success in La Liga and Europe.

Basque Rivals’ Strength in La Liga

Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad, two of La Liga’s Basque rivals, faced the risk of losing star players this summer but have managed to retain their key talents. Athletic Bilbao’s Spain star Nico Williams, who was handed the number 10 shirt, seems content to stay with the Copa del Rey winners despite interest from Barcelona and other clubs. Similarly, Real Sociedad’s pivotal midfielder Martin Zubimendi rejected a move to Liverpool, choosing to remain with the team. Both clubs, having finished fifth and sixth in La Liga last season, will aim to break into the top four this year.

La Liga’s upcoming season promises intense competition, with star players like Mbappe and Bellingham making waves at Real Madrid, and clubs like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Girona, and the Basque rivals strengthening their squads in pursuit of glory.
