West Ham has officially signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United in a deal valued at £15 million. The 26-year-old right-back, who spent five years at Old Trafford, agreed to a seven-year contract with the Hammers. Wan-Bissaka made 190 appearances for United after his 2019 transfer from Crystal Palace.

Last season, Wan-Bissaka played in United’s surprise FA Cup final victory against Manchester City. However, he was not in manager Erik ten Hag’s plans for the upcoming season. “It’s an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I’m excited for what’s coming,” said Wan-Bissaka. “I was born here, and I know the ins and outs of London, so playing here again means a lot to me.”

United is expected to replace Wan-Bissaka by signing Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

Wan-Bissaka is West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Jean-Clair Todibo, Crysencio Summerville, Luis Guilherme, Niclas Fullkrug, Wes Foderingham, Max Kilman, and Guido Rodriguez. “I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there,” Bissaka added. “I see a team that is united, pushing each other to win, and always having each other’s backs.”

Hammers’ technical director, Tim Steidten, emphasized Bissaka’s Premier League experience as a valuable asset for the club’s new boss, Julen Lopetegui. He may make his debut in West Ham’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa on August 17th.

“He’s exactly the type of player we want at this club, entering his prime years,” Steidten said. “Bissaka is an incredibly talented defender, exceptional in one-on-one situations, and versatile. With over 170 Premier League games under his belt, he knows the division inside-out.”
