Manchester United have reached an agreement with Manuel Ugarte over personal terms, according to recent reports. The club is keen to bolster its squad after securing Leny Yoro from Lille, and Ugarte is now a primary target.

The Uruguayan midfielder, who shares the same agent as Yoro, Jorge Mendes, has agreed to terms with United. Despite this, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have not yet finalized the transfer. PSG insists on a minimum fee of £59 million for Ugarte, a significant increase from the £42 million he cost them last summer from Sporting Lisbon.

Manuel Ugarte, who impressed during his loan spell at Girona, is eager to join United, even though the club is not in the Champions League this season. PSG, however, is hesitant to sell a player who fits their vision of a younger, dynamic squad.

Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing but still in the early stages. United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, is focused on further summer reinforcements. While Ugarte remains a priority, United may need to offload another midfielder, like Scott McTominay or Casemiro, to facilitate the deal.

Interest in Ugarte is not limited to United. Bayern Munich and several Italian clubs have also expressed interest, adding complexity to the transfer.

Manchester United’s busy off-season also includes recent signings like Joshua Zirkzee. Ugarte’s potential arrival is part of Ten Hag’s strategy to strengthen the team following a disappointing Premier League season.
