HUDDESFIELD TOWN – WEST BROMWICH ALBION 1:4

Championship

Mikey Johnston scored twice and Okay Yokuslu netted a long-range thunderbolt in a superb West Bromwich Albion comeback victory at relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town.

The Terriers would have moved out of the Championship’s bottom three with a win and led with Delano Burgzorg’s 30th-minute goal, his left-footed angled shot squirming underneath visiting goalkeeper Alex Palmer.

But fifth-placed Albion, far from their best during a first half in which they did not have an attempt on goal, returned from the interval a team transformed.

They levelled when Andreas Weimann crossed low for on-loan Celtic winger Johnston to tap home from close range, before Kyle Bartley poked in after a scramble in the six-yard box to put Albion in front.

Turkey midfielder Yokuslu drilled in powerfully from 25 yards to make it 3-1 and Johnston slipped the ball underneath Lee Nicholls to score his sixth goal in his past seven appearances.

BRISTOL CITY – SWANSEA CITY 1:0

Bristol City
Swansea City

Bristol City ended a four-game losing streak as Rob Dickie’s second-half header settled a forgettable game against Swansea City.

Dickie guided the ball inside the far post after a short-corner routine to give Liam Manning’s team a timely victory.

Bristol City look secure in mid-table having triumphed for just the third time in 13 Championship games to halt their worst run of the season.

Swansea, by contrast, remain in the relegation picture after seeing their three-match unbeaten run come to a disappointing end, with Przemyslaw Placheta wasting their best chance when the game was goalless.

Luke Williams’ team could not claim to have deserved victory in a game of few opportunities, but the Swansea head coach will rue their failure to avoid defeat.

A sixth loss in Williams’ 11 league games in charge leaves 15th-placed Swansea five points clear of the bottom three going into next weekend’s south Wales derby against Cardiff City, while Bristol City are nine points above the drop zone in 13th.
